To mark the release of the latest version of our open source hypervision solution, Canopsis v24.04, we organized a webinar on Thursday, May 16, 2024. Some forty professional clients and prospects were able to discover Canopsis and its new features.

Canopsis v24.04 webinar presentation
To begin, Mikaël Mourcia and Armand Dissaux introduced Capensis, the publisher of Canopsis. They then turned their attention to the recurring problems of an IS in need of hypervision:
- Tool multiplication
- Operating complexity
- Too many alarms
- Lack of global visibility
These limitations observed in many large-scale information systems were the driving force behind the creation of our Open Source hypervision solution.
The three-stage operation of the solution – Aggregate, Process and Restore – is followed by a demo, with a special focus on Canopsis v24.04 exclusives. They are detailed below 👇
What’s new in Canopsis v24.04
State compute method
Until now, the state of a service was equivalent to the worst-case state of its dependencies, and the state of a component was provided by an event.
This new Canopsis feature adds two types of state calculation algorithms:
- Inherited state of dependencies
It is now possible to select the dependency(ies) of the target entity that will be responsible for the final state.
- State defined by a share or number of dependencies of a specific state
This category allows you to define the state of a service using conditions based on a percentage or number of states of the service’s dependencies.

Redesigned alarm chronology in Canopsis v24.04
This graphic update now standardizes and codifies all the types of stage in which an alarm can be found, for an even more ergonomic interface:
- Action icons in the alarm box
- Icons in the alarm chronology
- Grouping in stages
- Representing periodic behavior
- The addition of a specific remediation tab

Entity SLI
This Canopsis v24.04 exclusive is a prerequisite for the SLA / Advanced Service Agreements feature.
These indicators can be found in the context explorer and in a specific new widget. They can also be displayed as a graph.

Pre-correlation time window in Canopsis v24.04
Thanks to this new Canopsis version, it is now possible to introduce a delay before correlations are performed. In this way, when an alarm is eligible for a correlation rule, it will only be activated at the end of the desired time delay.
Tag management
Last but not least, Canopsis v24.04 includes two exclusive enrichment actions for tag manipulation:
- set_tags
- set_tags_from_template
